Mr. Agboola emphasize on the need to have investors that be processing eggs during a feedback session at the just concluded 2019 Oyo State, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Congress held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Chairman PAN Oyo state delegated to the Public Relation Secretary of PAN, Oyo State Chapter, Mr. Bamigboye Oluwafemi to responsd to questions justifies the Chairman’s request while responding to briefing from our correspondent.
Mr. Bamigboye said the need for Egg Powder machine is imperative as it seems to be the major tool of mitigation against the effect of Egg glut that has turned into an annual shortage for poultry farmers.
“Egg glut is experienced mostly from February and extends till May a times. In fact, in 2017 it extended till June. We farmers really cannot explain how the Egg glut comes about; but you just discover that you produce eggs and customers are not buying. So farmers are forced to ridiculously reduce egg price even beyond the production cost just to sell and avoid spoilage. We cannot keep the eggs on the farm.” he added.
Mr. Bamigboye said the Egg Powder machine would really transform the poultry industry as excess eggs could easily be processed into powder and kept on the shelf for sales.
While reacting to a question about the availability of the machine, Mr. Bamigboye said he is not sure any poultry farmer in Nigeria is in possession of the Egg Powder Machine, however, he is aware that the machine is in operation in Nigeria but in the hands of private individuals who are not poultry farmers but process eggs into powder to supply company’s such as Nestle, Cadbury plc, confectioneries and other food industries.
