Nigeria Reveal Thailand’s Intrest To Boost Rice Production

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed made the announcement during a tour of some rice farms in Kebbi state that the Federal Government has announced plans by Thailand to establish rice mills in Nigeria so as boost rice production and create more job opportunities in Nigeria

The Minister says this was made possible as a result of the drastic reduction on Nigeria’s rice importation by over 90 percent.

He said that Nigeria has been able to reduce the importation of rice from Thailand from 644,000 metric tonnes two years ago to a little over 20,000 metric tonnes currently.

The Thailand’s government has shown their commitment in sponsoring youths to acquire the agricultural training and boost rice production. Thailand would not breach the industrialization alliance in order to make Nigeria sustainably boost rice production.
