The President of Poultry Association of Nigeria, Dr Ayoola Oduntan and PAN executives paid the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo a visit at his office at the state office in Abuja yesterday. Dr Oduntan said poultry business is a trillion naira industry that has a potential to empower Nigerians, create jobs and alleviate poverty in Nigeria which government should give adequate support.
The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo reiterates their commitment to give necessary government attention so as to maximize the potential of the poultry industry.
Mr. Laolu Akande who is the senior special Assistant to the Vice President on Media said Osinbajo spoke yesterday while receiving a delegation of Poultry Association of Nigeria which paid him a courtesy visit yesterday in his office at the State House in Abuja and said that Prof. Osinbajo wondered why poultry business seemed to have been ignored even as agriculture was on resurgent.
The acting president acknowledged the urgent need to address some of the challenges facing poultry industry because of the significance of its contribution to the country’s economy.
Dr Ayoola Oduntan asked government to compensate poultry farmers affected by the Avian influenza, reduction of production high cost as a result of high cost of inputs, he pleaded with government to make sure that foreign exchange made available for machinery and critical inputs of the industry.
